Patience Triangle Shawl Pattern Inspiration
I don’t make triangle shawls that much. That is to say, if I were having some fun crochet time and making someone else’s design I would probably choose a triangle shawl pattern but I haven’t designed that many myself. I struggle to remember them all now that I write this and there’s only maybe 3.
Anyway, I digress, the more I think about the fact that I haven’t designed many I want to, but I avoid crochet triangle shawl patterns essentially because of the counting. So I decided to get my big girl knickers on and design a few, the first of which being this free beginner triangle shawl crochet pattern, Patience.
Why Patience? As I was working on this design the name came to me and I had to keep it. I wanted this crochet triangle shawl pattern to be simple, easy, beginner. Something that you could make if you are a new crocheter, or new to shawls or like me don’t want to count through your whole project! All of those things require patience to be successful.
It’s the thing I say in groups when people are frustrated with their first attempts or it’s not looking ‘perfect’ or they want to be quick. It’s not a race, keep going, be patient and enjoy the process, it’s supposed to be fun. Calm, quiet, steady and comforting – a triangular crochet hug from me to you.

Easy Triangle Shawl yarn & materials
To make my Patience crochet triangle shawl, I used a new to me yarn – Wheel of Alpaca from Hobbii. I am currently working on my book It’s a Wrap and looking for new yarns to try and this is one of the ones that fell into my basket.
Wheel of Alpaca is 250g, 80% Acrylic/20% Alpaca, 940m/1026yd DK or 3 weight gradient cake from Hobbii. I am a huge fan of the cakes from Hobbii and have previously reviewed Twister and Twister Solid, so when I saw this appear on my Facebook feed I managed to contain myself for maybe a week before I bought some.
To find out all the specific details on this yarn, check out the review post here.
For alternatives – this beginner crochet triangle shawl pattern is essentially a one skein shawl pattern and so will work for any of my usual options – Twister, Sultan, Sultan Deluxe and a 4mm hook.
Easy triangle shawl pattern info & tips

There are a couple of different ways to explore/create a triangle shawl so I obviously chose the simplest thing to count so if you do get lost, or your counting goes a little out of whack it’s easy to get it back!
