Intro – Wave Catcher Drinkware Set
The Wave Catcher Crochet Mug Rug and Can Cozy set is here for all your summer drinks. Whether you’re sipping from your favorite canned beverage, or enjoying the sunrise with a cup of something warm — bring the beach vibes into your home with this set. Both crochet patterns are beginner friendly, and quick to make.
Wave Catcher set – yarn & materials
This set uses one skein of Crafter’s Secret Cotton. This is a worsted weight (category 4), 100% cotton yarn. If you don’t have any on hand, or available in your local craft store, here are a few substitutes — Paintbox Yarns Cotton Aran, Lily Sugar ‘n Cream, or Lion Brand Re-Up. Please note that the Crafter’s Secret Cotton is a thinner worsted weight yarn. It is important to check your gauge on the can cozy if changing yarn to ensure a snug fit.

Skill Level
The Wave Catcher Coaster and Cozy set is an advanced beginner crochet pattern set. You will need to have an understanding of the Single Crochet, Double Crochet, and Shell Stitch before starting.

Please note that the mug rug and cozy have separate gauges. Be sure that your gauge for the can cozy matches as closely as possible. This gauge measures the base of a standard 12oz can. Any gauge wider, and the cozy will be too loose around the can.

Notes
Check your gauge! If you want your mug rug and can cozy to be the same size as the pattern, please check gauge prior to starting this pattern. If you are using a different yarn, please check gauge! The Crafter’s Secret Cotton is a thinner worsted weight cotton than other worsted weight cotton yarns (ex. Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream).
Gauge. Please note that the mug rug and cozy have separate gauges. Be sure that your gauge for the can cozy matches as closely as possible. This gauge measures the base of a standard 12oz can. Any gauge wider, and the cozy will be too loose around the can.
Crochet Tight. The tighter your stitches, the more snug the can cozy will be around the can. Over time, the cozy will stretch, and a snug fit will prevent the cozy from stretching too much.
Chain 1 at the end of a row (or round) DOES NOT count as a stitch.
Chain 2 and Chain 3 at the end of a row (or round) DOES count as a stitch.
