Sadie C2C puff stitch shawl inspiration
The puff stitch is one of my favourite stitches. The Sadie C2C puff stitch shawl sort of fell off my hook as I watched one of my all time favourite movies Big Business. Easy to work up but not the easiest on the wrist all the time with a bold puffy appearance, this c2c puff stitch triangle shawl totally means business. It is a little weightier than it appears and can be blocked considerably, changing the overall appearance and size of the shawl.
Named for the Bette Midler character Sadie – the bolder business lady version because I love her and because it’s totally proudly puffy.
C2c triangle shawl yarn & materials
To make my Sadie c2c crochet shawl I used a firm favourite 3 x Twister Solid in Mint. Twister Solid is 55% Cotton, 45% Acrylic yarn available in 50 colours from Hobbii. Although I love gradient yarns, for this I wanted something that would let the stitches stand out and went for a single colour. To find out all the details on Twister Solid, check out the review post here.
For an alternative yarn to Twister Solid, you can try Friends Wheel, also from Hobbii with a similar fibre content to Twister Solid, Friends Wheel is also available in 50 shades, but has a slightly different colour palette to choose from.
Easy C2C Puff Stitch pattern info & tips
Sadie is a c2c puff stitch triangle shawl worked from the bottom up making this a great beginner c2c crochet project. Worked in the spaces, over an easy repeating stitch pattern Sadie is easy to remember and grows reasonably quickly. Due to the nature of the puff stitch used, this easy triangle shawl pattern is a little bit of a yarn eater – I used 1100m to create my original design.
As Sadie is made with an alternating stitch pattern to create the c2c effect, it benefits greatly from blocking which creates a more puff mesh type appearance to the fabric.
Gauge isn’t super important with this design, and it can be worked with alternative weight yarns. I would stick to a 3 weight yarn at a maximum otherwise the final piece will be huge and heavy to wear.
