Why crochet a triangle?
I am currently obsessed with making different crochet shapes and while working on the Granny Merge Maxi Dress design, I kept coming up against ‘issues’ with how the granny squares would fit together. The solution was a triangle, and while I was working on this it occurred to me that I hadn’t seen many of them around and that I might not be the only one who a – needs to make a triangle, b – is then fascinated by the idea of how to make them and wants to think up multiple things to make and use them in!
The crochet triangle patterns included in this post are all beginner, and aimed at getting you used to making them before moving onto more advanced options.
Easy Crochet Triangle Patterns
Notes:
- Please through the entire pattern BEFORE you start your project
- Ch3 counts as a dc
- Ch1 does not count as a st
- Rounds begin in the MIDDLE of the first corner of the round. Stitches at the end of the round will complete the corner
- Each ‘solid granny’ side grows by 4 stitches be mindful of the hidden stitch
Stitches & Abbreviations:
- Stitch – st
- Space – sp
- Chain – ch
- Magic Ring – mr
- Single Crochet – sc
- Double Crochet – dc
- Slip Stitch – sl-st
- Granny Stitch – gs* see special stitches
- Hdc join* see special stitches
Special Stitches:
Granny Stitch (gs) – 3dc into the specified st or sp
Hdc join – this is used to create a ch2 sp AND join at the end of the round. To complete this joining method, after completing the last stitch of the round, yarn over and insert the hook into the top of the beg ch3 of the round, yarn over and pull through all the loops on the hook as you would a hdc.
