Lenna Crescent Shawl Inspiration
The Lenna Crescent Shawl is the 3rd pattern I designed for my book Summer Shawls. After I finished It’s A Wrap, I had a lot of ideas for shawls that just didn’t work out but there was a theme – how many different shapes of shawl are there? Down the rabbit hole I fell and found a variety of shapes that I had not created and this textured crescent shawl free crochet pattern is one of my favourites.
Free crescent shawl pattern yarn & materials
My original version of this easy crescent shawl pattern was made in Aqua by Flo’s Yarn Basket. Still using up my stash, well I have no stash left and we can talk about that later. I had forgotten that I had this cake probably since the start of the pandemic.
The second version was made using a Scheepjes Whirl in the colour Jumpin Jaffa Pop. Not something I would normally choose but a striking choice for this crescent shawl crochet pattern,
Although written for 2 weight yarn, this pattern will work on weight of yarn with the right hook, however, heavier yarn weights will likely impact the drape and size of the shawl.
Lenna Crescent Shawl pattern info & tips
Lenna is an experienced beginner crescent shawl crochet pattern. It uses increases and post stitches evenly throughout to create the shape and texture.
Absolute beginners would also be able to complete this design, but I would advise using stitch markers at both ends of the shawl to ensure you have the right number of increases on both sides and in the correct place.
