Easy Summer Shawl Pattern Inspiration
Shapes. Lots of shapes were my inspiration for the designs in this book. I like regular patterns and after completing It’s a Wrap, I had a recurring idea to make a bunch of shawls of different shapes. Summer Shawls is some of that inspiration.
Of course, someone will say, a triangle is a triangle. They are not. Definitely not in crochet shawl patterns. To create the various shapes used in this book, and related designs, using increasing stitches changes the shape of a design, the fabric can then again make another difference.
For the names of the designs in this book, and this whole collection I have chosen female names that mean ‘power, strength’. After the last 9ish months, they really resonated with me, plus they are pretty and on theme.
Beginner Summer Shawls yarn & materials
Would you be surprised if I said I used 1 cake, and my 4mm hook to make all of these designs. Probably not if your not new to me, lol. Grab your fav cake, the hook that works best for you with that cake and get started. A little while later you will have a beautiful shawl. All the designs in this book can be easily increased, or worked with an alternative yarn weight being mindful of the differences that can occur.

Kelsey is a similar shape to Cleo, however it has more points and I still don’t know what to call this shape but my kids say it’s bat shaped!

Meredith
Meredith is a lacy rectangle summer shawl pattern. With an lacy repeat this beginner crochet pattern will look fab in a single colour.

Using post stitches and a featuring a crescent shape, Lenna is one of my favourite makes form this collection. The visual texture and curves make this easy to work up and will look fab in any colour.

Ailia
Lacy and shaped like a sail, Ailia is made using alternating fan or v type stitches.
